RARE Unique Winchester Model 1894 Carbine Special Order 30 WCF 30.30
Description:
This is a version you just dont see. Its a Model 1894 Carbine that was most likey part of a 10 gun special order for an Arizona Silver Mine Company in Ray Arizona. So far this is the 3rd one that I know of that has been located. It is a Carbine with the Rifle style Butt. However, it comes with the rear sight located slightly forward to make room for the model 22 style rear sight. This one likely came wirth a California Buckhorn sight (26B) originally, but now has the Flat top style 22A, Normally carbines would have a Ladder type or 3 leaf Express sight, which are shorter and during this time period would have been located to closer to the reciever (2 3/8" forward of the reciever) than this 1894. Inorder to use the 22 style sight, Winchester had to relocate some of the barrel stampings and rear sight dove tail ( 4" forward of the reciever). As visable in the pictures, some of the stampings were moved forward of the barrel band very much like Trappers from this time period. In normal configuration, there is not enough room for both the sight and the stampings. There is an article in the Wichester magazine on the 10 Carbine Special Order, which I can send to anyone interested in this gun. While there is not any serial numbers documentation from Winchester other than manufacture date and model, we do know the time period for the order. If you are a Model 94 collector, this is a must have as there are very few made like this.
