Description: SPECIAL ORDER 1894 .38-55, OCT. BARREL RIFLE WITH CLOSE-COUPLE DOUBLE SET TRIGGERS AND SPECIAL SIGHTS, #227XXX, made 1904. This one has functioning close-coupled double set triggers, .38-55 oct. barrel, full mag., Lyman tang sight with Beach folding globe front sight (rear dovetail empty). I called this one in to the Cody museum and received a call-in sheet verifying caliber, barrel and "Trigger: set; Sights: Lyman rear and hunting front." Fine blue on the barrel and mag. with light edge wear, Also fine blue on the receier sides and bolt/top with some thinning and edge wear. A few dings/scuffs on the rear edge of the receiver on the left side below the hammer, fine wood with normal handling marks only, tight action with strong safety half cock, bore a little dark with good rifling all the way through and some light corrosion toward the middle which may brush out.
