Winchester 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine cal. 38-55 WCF - Lyman 21 Receiver Sight
Description: Offered for your consideration is this fine 1894 Winchester carbine in the rare 38-55 WCF caliber. Made in 1897 it has the standard 20 inch carbine barrel with an exceptionally nice bore. The rifling is bright and sharp, I rate the bore condition 9 on a 1-10 scale. Very rare condition for a carbine from the black powder era! The front sight is an ivory bead, the rear barrel sight is a period correct Marbles fold down with white sighting diamond. The barrel and magazine tube retain a solid 90%+ blue. The receiver is mechanically excellent, feeds, chambers and ejects smoothly. The hammer has the correct tombstone checkering border and holds properly on half and full cock. The hammer and lever both retain a high degree of factory case colors, as you can see in the photos. The receiver retains approximately 70 percent of factory blue with areas of plum blue patina and a good deal of the original high gloss polish present. Rare to see this much blue on a Winchester receiver that's 123 years old! A Lyman 21 receiver sight has been installed which gives an additional six inches of sight radius for accurate shooting. The buttstock and forearm have some nice grain and are free of cracks, chips or heavy dents. The wood fits properly and stands flush to proud above mating metal surfaces. The buttplate is in good condition and retains 65% of the factory blue. Overall an exceptionally nice carbine with much higher condition than you typically find on the early Winchesters. I'll be glad to answer any questions you may have and will provide additional photos if you'll specify the exact views you'd like to see. Three day inspection. Shipping is at cost to your FFL dealer or C&R FFL. Shipping insurance is extra and at your option. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .38-55 Winchester |
