1943 Winchester M1 Carbine, First Block, All Correct
Description: The rifle was most likely built in Spring of 1943 as part of the Winchester First Block of production. I can find nothing that does not match the itemization of parts in Larson's Comprehensive Guide M1 Carbine and Ruth's War Baby. The crossed cannons stamp next to W.R.A./G.H.D. stamps are clean and easily legible on a 99% stock. The front sight is nail cut, barrel proof mark is 6 1/2" back from the muzzle, "W" is 4 1/2", barrel band is wide with no marking with an early flat tip sling guide. Rear sight is flip up with an "S" stamped on the side. Trigger is stamped "W", the mag is not marked, safety marked "EW", flat bolt, and the recoil plate is Type 3 which is why I think the rifle was likely made in the spring. The list continues with all correct stampings. The sling is not period correct, although the oiler is stamped "SI", and the magazine, stamped "U", while period correct, is not Winchester. While I am by no means particularly knowledgeable about the M1 Carbine, the long and short of it is the rifle is in exceptional condition, checks out according to Ruth and Larson as far as I can tell, has no rebuild stamps, and is not import marked. Feel free to give me a call with any questions: 415 730-7207 business hours West Coast time. NOTE: NOTE: Buyer is responsible for shipping charges. Must be shipped to a FFL.
