Winchester Star Receiver Enfield P17 M1917 .30-06 Springfield

Description:
This Winchester P17, M1917 is found to have a Winchester stock and bolt. The stamp on the E barrel indicates that this rifle was manufactured in December 1917. Cleaning/Oiling tube found in butt stock trap. 

As seen in the pictures, this rifle has the star within a circle stamp next to the flaming bomb on the left side of the receiver. This indicates that this receiver was part of the early production from Winchester. At one time these receivers were identified as such because many parts from other manufacturers would not necessarily fit. Winchester had started the production of these rifles prior to the other manufacturers and some parts of specifications would not crossfit. It is recorded that many of these receivers had corrections made during the refurb process. Clearly this would be a representation of one of those receivers having found minor parts from other manufacturers installed. And import stamp can be found between the front sight and the front band on the underside of the barrel indicating that this rifle could have been a lend/lease. It's original bluing condition has been replaced with a parkerized finish during the refer process.

Using the CMP gauges, this Eddystone barrel has a throat wear of 3 and muzzle wear of 2. The bore is bright and clean. 
The stock is clear of cracks and splits and is constructed of all walnut. An RA-P cartouche can be found on the left side just above the trigger and below the bolt stop.
