In our location in the densly wooded North Eastern US not unlke heavy cover in the South, South East. Eastern Tex and dark timber in the West the ability to have fast follow up shots without taking your eye out of the sight picture can make up the difference between lost and wounded game and a recoverd animal humanely killed. We often used these excellent rifles, as well as the Rem 742 series (see our other items...we have those as well), the Winchesters being a little lighter than the Rem counterparts. My deer hunting mentor whilc growing up (an old Mainer) when asked about the accuracy of the model 100's said ...you can hit an artificlal lemon at 100 yards....Ha ...we found this to be true. Althougth a post 64 gun the polish and deep rich blue on this gun was more typical of the excellence found at Winchester from prior eras. Other than a professionall repaired split left side of stock the gun is otherwise at or near 95% with a perfect bore and stil retains front site hood and factory fold down rear. It also has a Weaver type base for easy scope mounting (we have many excellent used Leupolds and other scopes).
This gun was made in 1966 which as a very low production year ...less than half of produton in most other years
