Description:
Standard length 24 inch octagon barrel chambered in 44 RF caliber with a decent bore that shows some shine and distinct rifling with scattered spots of light roughness. Barrel and full length magazine tube are a mix of grey and brown patina. Sights include a brass blade front and a folding ladder rear. Good markings on barrel address. Brass receiver shows an attractively aged patina with some scattered scratches and has tightly fitting side plates. The extractor is absent but could be replaced. Brass forend cap shows numerous dings while the crescent rifle style buttplate matches the receiver. The refinished smooth forearm and straight grip walnut stock are very good with some scattered minor handling marks. Sling swivels are mounted on the forearm cap and bottom of the buttstock. This 3rd Model 1866 Winchester rifle was made in 1873. Not a bad looking gun from the old American West.
