Winchester 1866 rifle. Made in 1872. 3rd model rifle. This gun has a very colorful appearance. It looks like a gun that has ""been there and done that"". Barrel has a brownish gray patina. Barrel address is clear and visible. Rear sight replaced with a gunsmith buck horn style sight. Brass shows handling wear and has been cleaned. Buttstock is a replacement with weathered original 1866 carbine wood that is from the same period. Very neat looking gun that would he interesting to know where it's been! Note: These are some areas of heavy pits on the barrel from the rear sight to about 8"" back from the sight. Bore is very rough.
