DELUXE ENGRAVED WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 SADDLE RING CARBINE
Description:
This is probably one of the most deluxe 66's I have seen. Elaborate engraving including the barrel bands. Hammer and lever are engraved as well. It has a special pointed trigger that the truly deluxe guns have. The stocks are xxx and in beautiful condition. There is a crack from the rear upper tang screw going down that has an excellent repair and is sound and solid. There are 3 or 4 deluxe guns that are similarly engraved on the barrel bands and they all have cracks.
The receiver is elaborately engraved as well and most would think it was done by L.D. Nimschke and could very well be. Or it could possibly be by Gustav Young who was a very accomplished engraver that did some fantastic work for Sharps and Colt in the 1860-70's.Receiver retains about 85% of the silver plating with slight brass showing in the worn areas. Bore is bright and shiny. Action is crisp and tight. The original saddle ring is present. Barrel and mag have turned a plum color with a good amount of blue still showing. This is just a beautiful Engraved 66!
