RARE Winchester Model 1886 40-70 Rifle Only 629 Made in this caliber
FREE SHIPPING
Description: Winchester Model 1886 rifle in the rare 40-70 WCF caliber. Only 629 were made in this caliber out of the 159,996 total, making them 4 tenths of 1 percent of production. It is a standard rifle with 26" octagon barrel, full magazine, crescent butt, plain walnut stocks, plain trigger, open sights, blued and case hardened finish. Serial number is 96025 made in 1894 so it is an antique. Cody email sheet verifies the info, is pictured, and will be sent with the rifle to the buyer. Original blue only remains on the bolt. The rest of the bluing on the barrel and mag has turned a mottled gray/patina mix. There is one ding to an outer barrel edge that does not affect anything other than appearance. There are hints of the case hardening on the receiver. The remainder is a nickelly-silver color with the same mottled appearance as the barrel and mag tube. Hammer retains 25% original case colors. Stocks are fairly sound with typical nicks and dings, no extra holes, never sanded or refinished. Action works smoothly and properly, including the half cock safety, with a strong mainspring. Bore has some brightness but also some scattered black powder pitting and some very light frost, consistent rifling, I'd say a 6.5 of 10 overall. Should spin a bullet just fine if you decide to find ammo to shoot. Sights have been replaced with a later Winchester flat top rear and Lyman front. All in all grades NRA Antique Good. Certainly will fill a gap in your Winchester collection being a very hard to find caliber. TERMS: No international sales. Antique so it can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it. Please be aware of what is legal in your state. 3 day non-firing inspection. Buyer pays return shipping. Payment by bank check, personal check or money order. Also now accepting payments through Zelle. All major credit cards accepted with 4% convenience fee added. Ships by UPS Ground with tracking.
