Description:
Beautiful Model 1866 Rifle with octagon barrel and magaizine. Beautifully near full coverage engraved, most likely from the Nimschke shop, with engravign on the forend cap, and buttplate as seen in the photos. There is a small engravers signature on the bottom of the frame with the initials "JPE" as seen in the photos. Front sight is with German Silver blade and rear sight is a Kentucky Rifle style replacement. Stocks are straight grain American Walnut and are mostly sound with a small hairline behind top tang. Cleaning rod is in the butt.
The gun made in 1872 remains in very good original condition as found. All brass retains a beautiful medium mustard color. Mechanics are fine. Bore shows some wear with sharp rifling. Cleaning rod is fine.
