Description:
Winchester model 1866 rifle. 24" Octagon barrel with a very good bore. Strong rifled with very fine pitting. The barrel and full magazine, lever and hammer are a brown to grey patina. Top barrel flat is marked:, "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN.CT./KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29.1866.OCTOBER.16.1860". Serial number #38750, mamf. in 1870. The reciever, forend cap and buttplate are a pleasing "Mustard" yellow patina. Buttplate has small "Trap Door" for cleaning tools. No tools included. The Walnut buttstock and forearm ar very nice and looks like it was "light" sanded and refinished a long time ago. Metal to wood fit is excellent. Has sling swivels. Front barrel sight is a small "Brass" blade dovetailed into barrel. Rear "Flip" up blade sight is marked with top notch "5" and bottom Notch "3". Action is strong and works like it should.
