WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 RIFLE IN 44 RF
Description:
24 inch octagon barrel chambered in 44 RF caliber with a good bore that has shine and scattered light roughness. Sights include a German silver blade front and folding ladder rear. Barrel and full length magazine tube retain about 20% thinning blue with a brown/gray patina on the balance with some pitting on the barrel towards the muzzle. Brass receiver has a nice mellow appearance. Tight fitting side plates. Hammer and lever have traces of case colors. Loading gate has good nitre blue remaining. Sling swivels. Straight grain walnut stocks are in very good condition with some dings and impressions. Brass rifle style buttplate. This is a third model made in 1869.
