Being offered sale is a very nice classic Winchester Model 1866 Saddle Ring Carbine in .44 Rimfire. Serial#157823 manufactured in 1882. 20" round barrel, clean bore retaining strong rifling with some light pitting in spots. All metal is pleasing light to dark brown patina, address markings remain clear and legible. The brass receiver appears to have been cleaned sometime in its past. however has turned to a nice patina brass. All wood is in very good condition, no cracks or repairs present with minor marks due to age and normal wear. This carbine is sighted with a correct folding rear ladder sight and the front sight is the correct integral blade as part of the front barrel band. Action functions as it should. Please review all photos for the condition of this very nice carbine.
A nice honest old west cowboy carbine. One note of interest, the carbine comes with a "general info" note from the cody museum that states the original order# and includes the dates the carbine was received and shipped from the Winchester warehouse.
