Description:
#4764 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB, overlength 26”x38WCF barrel with fair to good bore (about a 5-5+ on a scale of 10) and smooth action. The bore has no “bad spots” (serious deep pitting and rifling gaps)but does have an overall scaley and worn appearance. Serial numbered in the 227XXX range, (1887 manufacture). The exterior of this rifle has very crisp edged smooth even grayish and plum brown patina with some thin blue mixed in with no pitting of consequence. The metal overall is basically crisp-edged and devoid of any serious damage or blemishes although in my opinion, the mag tube is probably an old replacement as it is a deeper and more dense blue. The wood is also well above average with no serious chips, slivers, or cracks . Standard sights. Nothing rare or wonderful, but a decent original 130 year old Winnie in a better-than-average exterior condition. About “VG+” overall. $2250
