#4770 Winchester 1873, Second Model, 74xxx(1881), OBFMSGBSST
Description: #4770 Winchester 1873, Second Model, 74xxx(1881), OBFMSGBSST w/casehardened receiver all being noted on the Cody Museum letter which comes with the gun. As are most of the 2nd Models, it is a 44WCF and has an excellent bore (about a 9+ on a scale of 10) and smooth tight action. The metal, markings, wood, are all Fine or better and the barrel has at least 90-95% strong blue, the frame just cloudy grey swirls of case color remaining and the wood is a slightly better grade which is often the case when a gun has extra features but not a Deluxe. Now, in MY somewhat suspicious nature and opinion, this fine rifle very possibly has been “juiced up” at some point in its life, as it is simply TOO GOOD to be 136 years old, and I am pricing it with that being a likelihood. If this were 100% factory 1880s original finish, it would be about $5500-7500, but I’m pricing it at $2950 SOLD Antique: Yes |
