#4911 Winchester 1873-SRC (Saddle Ring Carbine), 3rd Variation
Description:
#4911 Winchester 1873-SRC (Saddle Ring Carbine), 3rd Variation, 297XXX(1889 mfgr), 38WCF with G-VG bore (for one of these hard-used carbines, about a “6” on a scale of 10) and smooth tight action. Carbine sights with the elevated ladder rear barrel sight being the relatively scarce reversed ladder style, original dust cover and saddle ring. Overall this little carbine has had an old and very well done refinish with a light patina with some build up of surface speckled rust, but no mentionable pitting anywhere and should clean MUCH better with some light scrubbing of oil and bronze wool, if desired. Good barrel address, very decent wood with just the usual dents and a small chip by the lower tang, all from 130 years of use. It is getting very difficult to find almost ANY ‘73 Winchester carbine in any usable condition these days and this one is a decent original specimen and in a relatively uncommon caliber compared to 44WCF. VG as described.
