#4918 Winchester 1873-SRC (Saddle Ring Carbine), 3rd Variation, 413XXX(1892 mfgr),

Description:
#4918 Winchester 1873-SRC (Saddle Ring Carbine), 3rd Variation, 413XXX(1892 mfgr), 44WCF with VG bore (about a “7” on a scale of 10) and smooth tight action. Standard carbine sights with the elevated ladder rear barrel sight, original dust cover. Overall a brown patina with a minor mottled appearance, most being on the barrel and magazine but has no pitting of consequence, and has cleaned much better than in the photos (which were taken "fresh out of the barn", so to speak). There is even some traces of blue at the rear of the frame. Very decent wood, just some usual gouges and dents from 120+ years of use. BUT!! ....the stock is thinner graduating to the rear of the stock and the butt plate is also narrower to match and fits perfectly. This looks TOTALLY untouched and the wear and age are both consistent throughout the entire gun. I have never seen a "lightweight stock", nor have I ever heard of one ...but this sure looks like factory work, and Winchester is well known for doing whatever the customer wants if he is willing to pay for it. This well could be a real rarity, but rarer yet is the collector who gives a hoot!! In any event, it is getting very difficult to find ANY decent ‘73 Winchester carbine and this one is a VERY decent specimen with a VG bore. VG $2550
