#4939 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB 38WCF, 305XXX(1889), standard 24” barrel. The bore is very decent, (about a “7+ to 8 on a scale of 10) …EXCEPT it has a noticeable “ring” about 10” down from the muzzle. Now, there is a LOT of good rifling still in front of that ring, so it is VERY likely that this little rifle will still perform quite well at intermediate distances. However, this is just MY opinion based on similar items that I’ve either heard about or have sold …but NOT based on my own personal shooting. (I have not been a shooter for over 40 years now.) The action is working smoothly, and it seems mechanically in good order. The wood is very good with just the usual bumps, dings, and nicks from a 120 year life. The metal is basically a grey-brown patina, but does have some scattered light to medium freckle pitting and mottled coloring overall, the markings are good. Standard sights and trigger. Overall, about VG as described. $1545.
