Description: 1873 .38-40 OCTAGON RIFLE, .38-40 CALIBER, WITH MINTY BORE, MADE 1891, very hard to find any antique 1873 with a bright bore like this one! Fine thinning receiver blue that has never been cleaned and has bright blue in the more protected areas with the balance thinning/mixing brown, also fine aged and lightly thinning barrel blue, original buckhorn rear sight with Lyman blade and ivory bead front sight, fine blue on the loading gate and original dust cover, mag tube aged to brown with some blue in protected areas, exc. screws, exc. butt stock and forearm with nice wood to metal fit, tight action, uncleaned mellow brass lifter correctly marked "38 CAL" overall much better than normally encountered for a 125 year old 1873 and a truly amazing bore!
