Antique 1873 Winchester. 44-40 Round Barrel. Very Good Bore. All Original And Honest.. Excellent Mechanics. MFG 1886... Cody Worksheet...
Description: SOLD....Antique 1873 Winchester... Here we have a nice and honest ole 73 Winchester. It is in the sought after 44-40 caliber. It has the standard 24” round barrel. The S/N is 219909 and made in 1886. I have the Cody work sheet and all is correct and will be include with the sale. The bore is very good and shootable. It shows very good and strong rifling with very minor roughness.. No big craters or pits and no rings or bulges.. The mechanics are excellent and it feeds, fires and ejects perfectly. No bulged cases and no backed out primers. Both hammer notches are perfect and positive.... The carrier and lever springs are tight with no dropping lever...... Has the original front and rear sights. Has the original dust cover that still retracts with the lever throw although it is a little loose as most all of these you will find... but not so loose the bolt slips under it and binds the action …. This gun works perfectly in all respects....All the markings are good and readable. Even the 44 markings on the bottom of the brass carrier are fairly strong. The gun is an even medium to dark plumb brown patina. NO pitting and has never been cleaned on or messed with.... The screw heads are sharp and not burred up but the dust cover stop screw is a little burred. The wood is very nice on this one. The forearm fits tight with no splits or cracks. Never sanded on or messed with. Just shows normal and honest use.. The butt stock is pretty good. It fits tight and shows some wear. No splits or cracks. Shows the normal bumps and bruises but nothing bad at all... I fixed a tiny 1/4” chip at the front left side at the upper tang. So small it was really not worth messing with but it looks much better... If I did not tell you, you would never know it was there. This is a very honest and very nice looking 73 Winchester for the money.... I know it is a round barrel but it is priced much cheaper than the octagon barrels. Actually , these round barrels are more scarce than the octagons.... Nothing wrong with this very nice 73.... Call Tom at 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $50 insured shipping. Don't wait if you are interested because I get so many calls AFTER the gun has already sold.... Most of these Winchesters I could sell 4 and 5 times …. Thank you for looking and check back often as I will be listing more guns soon... SOLD Antique: Yes |
