ANTIQUE WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 38 WCF OCTAGON RIFLE
FREE SHIPPING!
Description: Antique Winchester Model 1873, standard rifle with 24" octagon barrel, full magazine, crescent butt, trap door butt plate, open sights, plain trigger, plain walnut stocks, blued and case hardened finish, having a serial number in the 439,000 range, placing its manufacture in 1892. Caliber is 38 WCF aka 38-40, the best shooting caliber in this model. CONDITION: All blued surfaces (barrel, mag tube and receiver) have turned a pleasing dark plum patina. All case hardened surfaces (hammer, lever, butt plate and fore end cap) are also a smooth patina with some light nickelly finish. Original walnut stocks are in excellent condition showing no splits or cracks, no extra holes, never sanded or refinished, exhibiting expected nicks and scratches a 130-year-old rifle would accumulate through normal use. Action is smooth with a strong hammer spring, functioning properly at both half cock (safe) and full cock (fire) positions. Light side-to-side play in dust cover. Bore is very good with complete, distinct rifling, exhibiting expected light/scattered black powder pitting, free of rings, craters or bulges, about a 7 of 10 and shoot make a great shooter (the 38-40 is a very accurate round and shoots well with bores way worse than this one). All markings are clear. Sights include an original Winchester semi-buckhorn rear with correct elevator and a Rocky Mountain style front. Trap door slides freely. No cleaning rods present. Overall this one grades NRA Antique Very Good and will make a nice addition or starter piece for any Winchester collection. TERMS: No international sales. Antique so it can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it. Please be aware of what is legal in your state. 3 day non-firing inspection and sold as a collector item only. Not warranted safe to fire until checked out by a competent gunsmith. Buyer pays return shipping. Payment by bank check, personal check or money order. Now accepting payments through Zelle.
