DELUXE 1ST MODEL 1873 WINCHESTER RIFLE IN 44 WCF
Description: Deluxe rifle with special features that include a 24 inch half octagon barrel chambered in 44 WCF caliber with a bright shiny bore that has some light scattered roughness. Barrel retains most original thinning blue with some light scratches. Sights include a German silver blade front and sporting rear. Half length magazine tube. Case hardened frame retains most vivid case colors especially in the protected areas as do the hammer and lever. Set trigger and crisp action. Deluxe checkered straight grip walnut stock and forearm. Re-cut checkering and a small piece filled on the left side next to the cap on the forearm but still retains most original varnish. Stock has re-cut checkering with traces of original varnish. A chip out by the upper tang which is most likely from removing the stock numerous times. Butt plate has traces of case colors. Interesting gun being a First Model Variation 5 with the thumbprint dust cover and the trigger pin exposed as well as the later butt plate. Good looking deluxe rifle from 1878!
