First Model Winchester 1873 44 WCF Special Order w/Cody Sheet
Description: This is an original First Model 1873 Winchester rifle in caliber 44WCF of course. Standard 24" full octagon barrel, full magazine, special order set trigger, and all the correct 1st model parts including the dust cover, lever latch, and screw-in type mag tube end. Also correct early short rear sight and German silver blade front sight without the set screw. Factory records show it was warehoused in Dec. 1875 and shipped Sept. 1876. Shows its age having a 4" split in the forearm as well as normal dings, no finish on the receiver with a bit of light pitting, a tight split in the butt stock, a bit of rust on top of the butt plate, bent rear sight, and a shallow dent in the mag tube just forward of the mag tube band. Barrel and mag tube show about 40% patina. No rod in trap door of butt. Set trigger is not working, needs repair or adjustment. Half cocks safety still works and still will shoot as any normal rifle would. Excellent bore, sharp rifling, bright lands and grooves, about an 8 of 10. Although not in prime condition, it is a 100% original 1st Model survivor representative of the early Models 1873. Copy of the Cody Museum search email will be included with the rifle. 315.251.4799 with questions, concerns, offers entertained. Antique so it can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it. Must provide copy of valid driver's license. No international sales. Ships by USPS Priority Mail with tracking and insurance for an additional $50. Payment by bank check or money order, or discreet invoice from PayPal. 3 day non-firing inspection.
