Rare 1873 First Model Saddle Ring Carbine-Fine Condition-Ready for the Range!
Description:
Here is a rare opportunity to own an earlier Winchester Model 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine in nice shape. Only about 1/3 of the first model 73es were SRC and many have been lost to time or are found to be on their last leg as beater show pieces. These carbines were used hard by Ranchers, cowboys and American Indians. This Carbine comes with the Officail Cody Letter Verifying the Carbine to be in original condition as shipped in 1877. The carbine retains the correct Henry style mag tube and lever lock as well as the original thumb print dust cover. Screws are very good. Zero or close to zero remaining blue finish-possibly some small traces in protected areas. Markings are all clear and ledgible. Correct barrel address, unmarked caliber on barrel and brass plate (as correct). Correct early style sight that functions correctly. Correct trapdoor style butt. Some surface freckling but no depth. The wood looks to have an added layer of protection, but seem to have seen no rough sanding through the years as the wood to metal fit is excellent around the entire gun. No cracks or ugly gouges in the stock or forearm. It has the feel of a much newer gun as it's tight and sound. Bore is excellent and shows even rifling. The previous owner of this rifle took very good care of the carbine and used it regularly until recently. Don't miss your chance at this rare, early, carbine. Serial number 14,641. 44 WCF
