SCARCE 2nd Model WINCHESTER Model 1873 Lever Action .44 Caliber WCF Repeating RIFLE Antique Iconic Repeater Made in 1881 and Chambered In .44-40!
Description: SCARCE 2nd Model WINCHESTER Model 1873 Lever Action .44 Caliber WCF Repeating RIFLE Antique Iconic Repeater Made in 1881 and Chambered In .44-40! Here we present an antique Winchester 1873 Lever Action Rifle Second Model in .44-40 WCF, made in 1881 in New Haven, Connecticut. The Model 1873 is one of the most iconic of American rifles. Given the moniker “The Gun that Won the West”, the 1873 was there during the Indian Wars and Range Wars of the late 19th century. Cowboys, Natives, settlers, miners, law enforcement, express companies and hunters all found these rifles and carbines useful tools. These rifles made excellent companions to revolvers at the time as they were chambered for the same ammunition, meaning that the user only had to keep one type to feed both guns. One could easily defend the homestead and provide for his family with this versatile weapon. About 60,000 of the overall 720,610 Winchester Model 1873s made were Second Models. This one was shortened during the period. This was sometimes done to make a long gun handier. You can see the fine saw marks that have been smoothed with use and the patina that has formed with age. The overall condition is good. The action is strong and crisp. The bore is good with sharp rifling. The rear sight is a replacement. A neat piece of history from the American Frontier! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 21-1/4 inches. Caliber: .44-40 Winchester Center Fire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3295 #20471 SOLD Antique: Yes |
