Description:
Early first model receiver having scant traces color case hardened finish in protected areas with balance taking on a mottled nickel like to gray brown appearance. Thumbprint dust cover. The 20 inch barrel is marked with “London Armoury” above the standard two-line Winchester Repeating Arms/King’s patent address and with the James Kerr & Co. retailer markings below. There are British proofs on the left of the barrel and receiver at the breech. Barrel and full length magazine have taken on a medium brown appearance, darker in protected areas. Very good bore is fairly bright with substantial rifling. The front sight is integral to the front barrel band, there is a filler in the rear sight dovetail, and it has a peep sight mounted on the upper tang. There is an additional screw in the front barrel band. Walnut stocks are solid and fit nice with typical wear and handling marks complete with a carbine trapdoor buttplate.
