SPECIAL ORDER Winchester Model 1873 3rd Model 38 WCF Rifle
Description: Winchester Model 1873 special order rifle in caliber 38 WCF (38-40), one of the most accurate calibers Winchester manufactured. This rifle sports a 30" full octagon barrel 6" longer than standard and a working single set trigger. Also equipped with a full magazine, crescent butt with trap door butt plate, semi-buckhorn rear sight and Rocky Mountain front sight, plain walnut stocks. Features are confirmed by the included Cody Museum email sheet showing serial number 167374 was received in the warehouse October 5, 1885 and shipped on November 20, 1885 to order number 1932. CONDITION: All metal surfaces are a mix of gray and brown patina with some plum showing in the protected areas of the barrel flats by the mag tube. Some pitting is found on the left side of the barrel. Original walnut stocks are sound with no splits or cracks and no extra holes, never sanded or refinished. Trap door butt cover slides as it should. No cleaning rods present in trap. Set trigger functions perfectly, as does the half cock safety. Very good shootable bore, no rings, no bulges, no craters, defined rifling with typical light black powder wear. Mag tube is tight with no wobble. Grades NRA Antique Very Good. TERMS: No international sales. Antique so it can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it. Please be aware of what is legal in your state. 3 day non-firing inspection and sold as a collector item only. Not warranted safe to fire until checked out by a competent gunsmith.
