Winchester 1873 44WCF CARBINE Early 2nd. Model Mfg.1880 -NICE-ORIGINAL
Description:
Offered for sale is an original WINCHESTER 1873 Saddle Ring CARBINE in 44WCF 44-40. A nice, unmolested gun with character!. This is an early 2nd. model with the screw rail dustcover guide made in early 1880. Nice action, solid carbine with a decent bore- strong rifling with minimal pitting, a little darkness but still has some shine. I'd say easy 7+ out of 10. Nice markings on the barrel address and tang, and sharp corners on the metal. Traces of underlying original blue in protected areas but mostly turning. Nice, solid wood with no cracks apparent but has a lot of character - handling marks where used on the frontier- a solid working mans gun if there ever was one that is still solid and usable. It also has the early rear flip sight as used on the 1866 model. This early carbine has been in my collection for a number of years. The gentleman I purchased from told me it came from an MGM in the 1980's where it was used as a movie prop gun at one time. Can't verify that, but this carbine does have a great character look to it!!! An original old west Winchester SRC 44WCF that came from California, definitely old west used and possibly remaking the old west in the John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart movies! Solid gun!!! Check out my other offerings for some nice, vintage firearms- THANKS!
