Winchester 1873 Extra Long 44 WCF Rifle, Special Order
Description: Winchester Model 1873 rifle caliber 44 WCF with special order 28" octagon barrel (4" longer than standard), full magazine, set trigger, and case hardened frame. Factory records confirm these features and show serial # 129972 shipped in August 1883. Original case hardened frame has that nickel-silver look typical of the case hardened guns when they tone out. Barrel and mag have a mottled mix of patina and silver. Sights are original and mag tube is tight. Action is very good. Set trigger and half-cock safety both function perfectly. Forearm has typical nicks and dings, slight loss at cap on shooter's right, no extra holes, never sanded or refinished. Butt stock has a 2" crack coming in from the lower butt plate mounting hole, otherwise sound with no extra holes, never sanded or refinished, typical nicks and dings, tight fit. Bore is good with distinct rifling and typical black powder scattered fouling, no rings or craters. Neat special order 1873 in the right caliber and a great candidate for a Turnbull Restoration to bring back the vivid case colors it once wore. No international sales. Antique by ATF standards so no FFL or C&R required unless your local laws require it, so make sure this is legal for you to purchase and own where you live.
