24 inch octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore with very good rifling. Full length magazine. The barrel and magazine tube retain about 90% original blue with slight toning to plum and thinning on the edges and contact points. Sights are standard sporting front and rear. Color case hardened foren cap, lever, hammer, receiver retain some vivid colors and patterns with the buttplate showing more of a mottled silver gray. The carrier block is nickel plated and inscribed “E.A. POYEN / MERIMAC / ->MASS.<-“ on the bottom. Edward Austin Poyen was publisher of the Merrimac Reporter of Merrimac, Mass. as well as the Newton Recorder of Rockingham County, New Hampshire in the 1880’s. Straight grip walnut stocks show nice figure with tiger striping with near all original finish showing only light handling marks. This one came from Winchester with the sling swivels. Comes with a Factory letter dated 1968 from the Winchester Museum.
