WINCHESTER FIRST MODEL 1873 RIFLE CHAMBERED FOR 44 WCF

Description:
24 inch round barrel. Full length tube magazine. Original sights include a Sporting front with nickel silver insert and the early short tang sporting rear along with a thick base first variation Lyman No. 1 combination tang sight. Plain walnut forearm with matching straight grip buttstock fit with a crescent rifle trapdoor buttplate. Remains in very good condition overall showing wear and handling marks consistent with typical use over the 150 years since its manufacture in 1876. The barrel, magazine and receiver show about 30-40% finish with thinning areas turning brown. The hammer and lever retain faint traces of case colors. Very good bore is fairly bright with minor frosting and a few scattered light pits. The action is smooth and locks up tight. The stocks are solid and fit decent.
