Description:
Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle serial number 258014, 32 WCF, 24 inch octagon barrel with a fair good bore showing light to moderate pitting with bright areas and generally strong rifling.
Rifle made in 1888
Metal is mostly a deep grey-brown patina showing some scattered areas of old light pitting and handling marks with streaks of original blue along the protected areas of the barrel. Markings mostly strong, the caliber designation on the lifter abscured by a few old dings.
The right side of the frame shows period added markings that are somewhat faded with the initials "R.D.I." over what appears to be folky stand of flags that certainly adds some more character to the arm.
Plain walnut stocks rate very good showing and old light cleaning with scattered old dings, small crack at upper tang and a neatly repaired old crack on the left of the wrist between the tangs that goes unnoticed at first glance.
The rifle is sighted with standing sporting rear sight, small ivory bead front sight and the action seem to function normally.
