WINCHESTER THIRD MODEL 1873 RIFLE CHAMBERED FOR 22 SHORT

Description:
24 inch octagon barrel marked 22 SHORT. Brass cartridge carrier/lifter is marked 22 CAL. SHORT. Full length tube magazine. Original sights include a sporting front with nickel silver blade and semi-buckhorn sporting rear. Plain walnut  forearm with matching straight  grip buttstock fit with a crescent rifle buttplate. Barrel shows about 80% original finish with light wear and handling marks. Very good bore is fairly bright showing mildly uneven surfaces and good rifling. Magazine tube shows about 70% original finish starting to turn brown. Strong positive action with the receiver showing about 60% original thinning finish turning brown. The stocks are solid and fit decent showing worn finish with light handling marks. Manufactured in 1888.
