High Condition Antique Winchester 1873 38 WCF Lever Action Rifle W/ Letter. Serial #192476, Model 1873 (Third Model), 38 WCF, 24" Barrel. Very good condition. Wood stock & forend have moderate wear & patina commensurate with age. Barrel & forend retain approx. 85+% of the factory blue finish with some gray/brown patina showing through and light wear/rust spots. Receiver retains approximately 80% of factory blue finish with most of the wear on the raised panels. Some gray/brown patina showing through. Some case colors remain on the hammer and sides of the lever. Buttplate has very faint case colors with mostly gray patina and rust. Bore retains some brightness. Mechanically very good with strong action.
Includes a letter from Cody Firearms Museum shipping it on October 23, 1885, to an unlisted address; no cleaning rod in butt compartment. Provenance: Property from the collection of the late Marshall E. Kuykendall, of the former 101 Ranch in Hays County.
