"Serial number 28744. Made in 1882. 45-75 caliber with a 32" barrel. Metal has a mottled gray patina. Wood has been refinished. The cleaning rod is missing. This gun is a Citizen Guard of Hawaii gun, but the only markings were on the cleaning rod. This gun however was shipped on order 35449 which was sent to the Citizen Guard of Hawaii with a total of 298 Muskets and 81 Carbines. The a Citizen Guard of Hawaii was a militia against royalist forces. The royalist opposed the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii. These Winchesters were used by the Citizen Guard to fight the royalists from January 6-9th in 1895. In 1898, Hawaii was annexed by the United States.
