Antique 1876 Winchester. 45-60 Caliber. 28" Octagon Barrel.
Nice Bore And Wood. Some Barrel Blue. Excellent Mechanics !!!!!! Priced Right...
Description:
SOLD...REDUCED PRICE !!! Antique 1876 Winchester. This is a very nice and honest 1876 Winchester with a little blue remaining on the barrel. It has the standard 28” octagon barrel. It is also in the best shooting 45-60 caliber. S/N 56565 and made in 1885... The barrel does have quit a bit of blue peeking through the brown patina as you can see in the photo of the barrel address. Most of the barrel blue looks like that photo.... Might show even more blue with some very careful cleaning but I am not touching it...... Just the way I found it years ago...The receiver blue has faded to a nice medium plumb brown patina. NO pitting on the gun and has never been cleaned on or messed with... The barrel does have some small dings by the rear sight dovetail... The bore is very nice for an 1876.. It shows strong rifling with minor roughness and no big craters and no rings or bulges... The mechanics are excellent and it feeds, fires and ejects perfectly like new. Both hammer notches are perfect and positive... I have shot this gun many times over the years and it never fails in any way and shoots great with my hand loads... I just have too many 76's and one or two has to find a new home. It still has the original dust cover that is still tight and it retracts perfectly with the lever throw. The lever has two very small bends on the rear section loop that I did not have room for photos. They are very minor and in no way effects the function of this rifle. The lever still closes up tight to the lower tang with out force to engage the lever swivel lock tab.... I will send up close photos to you and hopefully you can see them as they are very small and minor. I actually did view them through my camera and I could barely see them. The sights are original with the front sight being the special order Lyman's hunting front sight with an ivory bead.. The rear sight is the standard semi buck horn. I have different front sights and rear 76 marked ladder sights so I can install anything you want at an additional cost if you want something different no problem. All the markings are excellent. The wood is very nice. The forearm has no splits or cracks. It fits even with the end cap on the bottom and slightly proud on the sides to the end cap. Never sanded on. The butt stock fits perfectly even at the upper and lower tangs and proud to the metal in some places. NO wear and no chips at the bottom of the butt plate toe as many of these ole Winchesters will show. No splits or cracks. Wood is even with the butt plate all around. The wood just shows the normal and honest dings and scratches with no split or cracks and a little honest wear from use and handling but never sanded on or messed with and no repairs.. The screw heads all show nice and sharp slots and are not burred up with tool marks and all are very serviceable. All in all, this is a most honest ole 76 that has not been cleaned on or messed with and shows some nice blue peeking through on the barrel. It has a nice and very shootable bore and functions like new. I hate to see this one go, but I can't keep'em all..... Getting hard to find good 76's at reasonable prices. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $50 insured shipping and pack very secure with care..
