Winchester Model 1876 45-60 Factory Short Rifle
Description: DESCRIPTION: Winchester Model 1876 45-60 caliber factory short rifle with 24" octagon barrel 4" shorter than standard, full magazine, standard crescent butt with trap door butt plate, walnut stocks, serial # 34221, received in warehouse June 9, 1883 and shipped from warehouse October 19, 1883 to order number 8250. Copy of Cody email sheet will be included with the rifle. CONDITION: Grades NRA Antique Fair. Barrel and mag tube are a light patina with about 5% original finish remaining. Mag tube had a dent near the fore end cap that was straightened but obvious. Mag tube end cap and mag tube retaining ring are later replacements having 70% original blue. Fore end cap has some case colors remaining, otherwise silvered out. Receiver, lever, hammer and butt plate have the same finish as the barrel. Butt plate has some pitting along top section. Butt stock has a section chipped off at top toe of butt plate. Fore arm wood not original to gun and may be from a Model 1886. Brass carrier block is correctly caliber-marked and is a pleasing mustard color but has a small section missing front left at top from the rifle being dropped with the action open. Bore is fair at best with extensive frost and weak rifling. Action still functions nicely, as does the half cock safety. Front and rear sights are later Winchester replacement. Trap door in butt operates properly but no cleaning rods present. Original dust cover is present, still tight with no wobble. According to a complete survey of the Winchester Model 1876 records, there were 23,517 45-60 caliber Model 1876 rifles but only 401 had factory 24" octagon barrels, so this one is a rarity and despite its condition makes a good addition to any Winchester collection. TERMS: No international sales. Antique so it can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it. Payment by bank check, money order, personal check, or all major credit cards with 3% convenience fee. 3 day non-firing inspection. Buyer pays return shipping. Layaway available with 25% down and equal payments over 90 days. Offers considered. Thanks for looking.
