Description: #4934 Winchester 1885 Hi-Wall 30”xNo.3x32/40 Sporting Rifle, SST, 57XXX range (c1892). Bore is very fine plus (about a “9” on a scale of 10) and looks like it would be VERY accurate. The barrel retains about 90%+ coverage of an 80-90% density blue and there are FAINT traces of faded cloudy case colors left in the reciever …most of which does not show well in the photos below. Unfortunately, it also has some nicks and dings to the right side of the frame (see photos) and some deep pitting on the heel of the buttplate. The forearm is fine and shows no wear, dings, or bruises ….but the buttstock has a repair at the wrist. It has a single-set trigger, but needs to be adjusted to be used as a set trigger. Common semi-buckhorn standard sporting rear sight; front sight is the pinched blade open sight. Overall, a much better than average conditioned Hi-Wall (except for the butt repair) in a very popular and extremely accurate target shooters caliber …and also having the very desirable single-set trigger. Except for the bumps and dings on the receiver, the buttplate pitting, and the repair to the wrist, this would easily be about a Fine-Ex.Fine Winchester. $2375 SOLD Antique: Yes |
