Winchester Model 1885 High Wall Target .32-40 caliber rifle. Overall length is 49¼”. The 30” number 4 (No. 4) octagon barrel has an excellent bore. The barrel has approximately 95% blue. The receiver, lever, and tang have visible case colors. There is an area of pinprick pitting on the left side of the receiver. This rifle has several special-order features including: medium-heavy number 4 (No. 4) barrel, single set trigger, Schuetzen butt plate, provision in the forend for a palm rest, and target sights. The tang sight is graduated from 0 to 50. The barrel sight has two folding leaves. Wood is very good with no cracks or chips. The right side of the butt stock has an area of storage/use dents. Action functions correctly. This rifle is circa 1889. A very nice example of an early High Wall Target rifle in a desirable caliber. It would look good in any single shot or target rifle collection.
