Antique Winchester Model 1885 High Wall 32-40, 4 Digit Serial #
Description: Antique Winchester Model 1885 High Wall with 4 digit serial #, caliber 32-40 with 30" #3 full octagon barrel and single set trigger. This one will letter exactly as described, picture of Cody Museum email sheet shown, hit the warehouse near the end of 1886 and shipped January of 1887, serial #6464. Very good condition having about 25% original case colors remaining on the receiver, upper & lower tangs, hammer and lever. Barrel has about 30% coverage of a mix of plum and patina. Strong bore with very good rifling, about an 8.5 of 10. Crisp, sharp action with half-cock safety functioning properly. Stocks are sound, never having been cleaned, sanded or refinished, no extra holes, still tight and proud. Very small chip repair to forearm on shooter's left at receiver. Rear sight is period replacement. Front sight is a Lyman "Jack" with ivory bead. All markings are clear and crisp and correct for the period of manufacture. Single set trigger functions perfectly and the set screw turns freely. Hard to find an early antique in this condition, especially one that will letter and has not been altered in any way. Please have it checked by a competent gunsmith if you intend to shoot it. No international sales. Antique so it can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it; will need copy of valid driver's license as proof of age. Ships in a hard case to protect your investment.
