CUSTOM WINCHESTER Model 1885 LOW WALL in .32-40
Description:
CUSTOM WINCHESTER Model 1885 LOW WALL in .32-40
Single Shot Target Rifle Made in 1917
Here we present an antique Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall Rifle, chambered in .32-40, made in 1917 in New Haven, Connecticut. Ironically, the Model 1885 was Winchester’s first single shot rifle, the company having been founded on its winning lever action repeater design. John Moses Browning, the famed gun designer who forever changed the firearms landscape, began his career with this rifle in the 19th Century before dominating the world scene in the 20th Century. Here is a nice Low Wall Sporting rifle in an excellent caliber.
This example was once a “Winder” .22 training rifle, even marked by the Ordnance Department. At some point this was re-barreled with an extremely heavy, custom target barrel chambered for .32-40. The stock has also been modified with a high comb to accommodate a scope. Trigger is single set! This is a neat and unique outfit!
The overall condition is very good. The steel parts are bright. The walnut stock is smooth and solid. The bore is fine, sharp and shiny. The action is excellent, strong and crisp.
This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
Barrel is 26-5/8 inches.
Caliber: .32-40
Overall condition as seen in photos.
Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
