This is a Collector’s Winchester High-Wall 1885 Takedown Rifle in .22 Long Rifle; 28 Inch Medium Weight Target Barrel with Rounded Crown; Rifle and Stock are set up for Target Use; Serial Number 121XX. The action, barrel and all parts appear polished and blued, leaving Winchester Markings intact & Legible. A drilled and tapped hole in the upper tang probably held a sight at one time. Two Standard 3/8-Inch Dovetail Bases are attached to the Barrel which has two more drilled & tapped holes that we can see. The bore and rifling appear sharp, and there’s a short Front Ramp with an Empty Dovetail Cut. Wood is Straight-Grained with a bit of figure. Two repairs are evident: One at the bottom/front of the Beavertail Forend where Matching Wood fills what was probably a mortise for a hand-stop plate or rail; and the Second is an approximately 1-Inch ‘bullet’ shaped matching wood repair on the upper, front, left edge of the comb. The Vintage Fecker 24X (marked) Scope and unmarked External-Adjust Rings are Included. A Vintage Herter’s Vertical-Adjustable Buttplate and Recoil Pad is present. Because this is a refinished customized target rifle, condition is best judged by the photos.
