WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 HIGH WALL POPE RIFLE IN CALIBER 32-40

Description:
32 inch No. 4 Heavy octagon barrel with matted top flat and a very good bore. Fitted with scope blocks, windgauge globe front sight and Winchester mid-range Vernier tang peepsight. Top left barrel flat is marked "H.M. Pope Hartford, Conn". Also shows Pope serial number 268. Gun retains about 90% original blue. O.A. Bremer style double set triggers, customized lever and nickel plated Swiss buttplate. The plain forearm has a Winchester tang sight base for a palm rest which is not present. Buttstock is in good condition with a left side cheek piece. Small crack on left side of upper tang and typical handling dings and mars. This gun is listed in Volume 2 page 248 of Greatbatch's "H.M. Pope Hartford 1887-1901".
