#4761 Winchester 1886 OBFMCB 45/70, 32XXX range (1889), VG+/Fine bore and action
Description:
#4761 Winchester 1886 OBFMCB 45/70, 32XXX range (1889), VG+/Fine bore and action (about a 7+ to 8 on a scale of 10) with no bad spots except for having some light black powder residue in the grooves. Very good wood with one sliver on right upper tang (see photo) and otherwise having a fine tight fit to the metal. Fine crisp-edged metal and just a thin mottled silvery grey on the frame and lighter coverage of thin bluish-grey on the barrel and magazine, which looks (to me) to be a cosmetic up-grade by using a bottle of blue. Open front sight and low buckhorn rear barrel sights. This handsome old Winchester has obviously had decent care in its 127 years of life and is WELL above the “average” 1886 that can be found in all but the better high-end gun shows. A very decent early gun with a really decent bore and in a very popular caliber. $2995
