CLASSIC EARLY 1886 .45-70 OCTAGON RIFLE, #53XXX, MADE 1891

Description:
CLASSIC EARLY 1886 .45-70 OCTAGON RIFLE, #53XXX, MADE 1891. One of the most desirable calibers and one of the most difficult to find in the 1886, this one is in "attic condition" that hasn't been cleaned or "helped." The receiver is an uncleaned mottled gray/brown with exc. screws. The barrel shows good aged blue with some edge wear and excellent markings. The barrel is fitted with the 1886 marked long ladder sporting sight with slide intact. Front sight is the standard Winchester blade. Mag tube is also an uncleaned gray/brown on the bottom 3/4 with some aged blue below the barrel. Fine butt stock and forend with tight wood to metal fit shows light handling only with a little more wear to the forend. Tight action with strong safety half-cock. Best of all, bright excellent bore showing only some very minor scattered small spots of corrosion- hardly worth mentioning. A handsome big 133 year old '86 in .45-70 caliber.
