Documented One-of-a-Kind Winchester Model 1886 Rifle
Description: Documented one-of-a-kind Winchester Model 1886 rifle in caliber 33 WCF. See pictures of factory letter and research letter by John Madl, who specializes in the Model 1886 and has published a book about that model. Both letters will be provided with the rifle to the purchaser. Configuration is 22" round barrel (2" shorter than standard for this caliber), matted barrel, full magazine, takedown, rifle butt, plain pistol grip, style "I" checkering, plain trigger. Not listed in the records are the Lyman #4 hunting front sight, Lyman leaf rear sight, and correctly marked Lyman "NI" tang sight. No extra holes in upper tang under tang sight. Barrel and mag blue 95% with only a few very light, minor marks. Takedown is super tight with no wobble and functions properly. Light marks on the mag tube typically caused by the takedown process. Checkering very good with light wear. Forearm has 2" tight hairline coming back on underside from forearm cap. Butt stock has normal light usage marks. Neither stock has ever been cleaned, sanded or refinished. Receiver exhibits 85% bright original blue with some loss and toning starting to take place on the takedown flange, belly, and upper edges. Forend cap also 85% bright blue. Mag tube ring and buttplate have10% original finish, balance turned silver. Hammer and lever retain 40% original case colors. Original barrel matting remains very sharp. Action is butter-smooth and tight. Bore in the nickel steel barrel is sharp, bright and shiny, a 9.5 of 10. Hammer spring is very strong, half-cock safety works properly, and tang sight "pops: into place indicating a strong spring as well.
