SPECIAL ORDER Winchester Model 1886 45-70 Extra Light Rifle with Factory Letter
Description: DESCRIPTION: Special Order Winchester Model 1886 45-70 rifle, 22" round extra lightweight nickel steel barrel, full magazine (typical was 1/2 length for extra lights) and solid frame (typical was takedown for extra lights), walnut stocks, shotgun butt, hard rubber butt plate with correct Winchester logo, standard semi-buckhorn rear sight with patent-dated thumb print elevator, and Lyman #4 Hunting front sight. Factory letter for serial number 126445 confirms configuration, shows it was received in the warehouse on October 2, 1902 and shipped from the warehouse on October 3, 1902 to order number 159217. Factory letter will be supplied with rifle. CONDITION: Grades NRA Antique Fine - barrel and mag tube retain 80% bright/thinningn original blue. Receiver retains 60% bright original thinning blue with loss and wear to the carry area on the underside. Lever retains 15% bright original case colors with the balance toned to a smooth patina. Hammer exhibits 50% bright original case colors with the balance toned to a smooth patina. Stocks are still tight and proud, and are sound with no splits or cracks, never sanded or refinished, no extra holes, just minor usage marks and some light scuffing on the bottom line back by the toe. Mag tube is tight with no wobble. Original hard rubber butt plate is in excellent condition with no splits, cracks or missing pieces. Action is butter-smooth and the half cock safety functions as designed. Bore is superb, a 9 of 10, bright and shiny with sharp rifling and no pitting. I have test-fired this rifle, and it feeds and functions properly, and is an excellent shooter. Outstanding 1886 45-70 rifle to add to your collection !! TERMS: No international sales.
