SPECIAL ORDER Winchester Model 1886 Rifle Cal 38-56, Antique, With Provenance
Description: Antique Winchester Model 1886 in the accurate 38-56 WCF caliber with standard 26" octagon barrel, full magazine, plain walnut stocks, blued and case hardened finish. It has a special order single set trigger that was not functioning when I purchased the rifle last year. It has been restored to working order by the experts at Turnbull Restorations. Cody email sheet shows serial number 46472 was applied on June 25, 1890, confirms the configuration, with a warehouse date of July 12, 1890 and a ship date of October 20, 1890 to order number 19804. An official factory letter has been ordered. Both the email sheet and factory letter will be mailed to the purchaser. CONDITION: All metal surfaces have turned a darker patina and there are no traces of case colors remaining. The butt stock is missing a small piece at the upper right by the receiver and the fore arm has the initials "IA" scratched on the left side. Otherwise, there are no issues other than the normal usage marks, no extra holes, no splits or cracks, never sanded or refinished. The action is smooth and the half cock safety functions properly. Turnbull Restorations installed an new single set trigger sear and dog spring, fit them to the rifle, and rebuilt the hammer notches (cost of repair $800) so that the single set trigger now adjusts and works fine. Bore is about good with some black powder fouling but plenty of rifling. I have not fired this rifle. All said, grades NRA Antique Good and is a decent representative antique 1886 rifle. SHIPPING: Shipping to the Continental US States will be a flat $40, with insurance optional and additional if requested. We are registered with the CA DOJ and will ship to California! TERMS: No international sales and no sales to Alaska or Hawaii. Antique so it can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it. Please know what is legal for your state (for example, residents of NY City must have this ship to an FFL). 3 day non-firing inspection. Buyer pays return shipping. Payment by bank check, money order or personal check; all major credit cards are accepted with a 4% convenience fee added. Ships by UPS Ground with tracking. Always interested in Civil War items, as well as used long guns and used antique handguns so please contact me if you have anything for sale or trade. 315.251.4799 with questions or concerns.
