VERY FINE CASE COLORED 1886 OCTAGON RIFLE IN .45-90 CALIBER, #80XXX, WITH FACTORY LETTER, MADE 1893
Description: VERY FINE CASE COLORED 1886 OCTAGON RIFLE IN .45-90 CALIBER, #80XXX, WITH FACTORY LETTER, MADE 1893. This example shows fine light case color on both sides of the receiver that is a bit more silvered on the right front half with more vivid color in the protected areas on and around the hammer and in the edges, etc. The lever sides and forward part of the upper tang show good color. The bolt displays bright deep blue with fine blue on the loading gate and screws are excellent. The barrel and magazine show good aged blue that is thinning somewhat and evenly mixing with a little soft plum brown. Buckhorn rear sight with standard Winchester blade front sight. Butt stock and forearm generally excellent showing very tight wood to metal fit and only light handling. Tight action, excellent bright bore with any surface roughness extremely light and scattered and might scrub out even better. Overall, a superior early Model 1886 that still retains lots of case color plus is in a very desirable caliber! Amazing for a 127 year old Winchester!
